Resource description
The BiO.CC project promotes the sharing of data, information, knowledge, and wisdom among bio-researchers who are working in biology and bioinformatics. The goal of BiO.CC is to build an extensive bio-knowledge network that is 'openfree'.
Its ultimate aim is to exchange knowledge and information among biologists towards collaborative development of biological knowledge bases that anyone can contribute.
The BiO.CC domain functions as a top level name holder for many different bioinformatics research sites that are 'openfree' in nature, allowing for ultimate sharing. The project provides free hosting services to those who want to create wiki sites for biology.
As a promotional activity, BiO.CC holds an annual contest called the International Openfree Bioinformation Contents Competition (IoB.CC) [1]
